The Western Taylor County Public Library is located in the Gilman Municipal building (380 East Main Street). We have a collection of about 11,000 items that include dvd’s, videos, audio books, cd’s and of COURSE books. We have an excellent selection of magazines to come in an read or check out and take along. Need access to the internet? We have six computers set up for public use free of charge, and all it takes to use them is a library card. We also offer copying and fax services for a small fee.
Our current hours of operation are Noon to Six Monday through Wednesday, Eleven to Seven on Friday, and Ten to two on Saturday. We are closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
While the size of the facilty and the collection are small, Western Taylor Co. Public Library is a part of Wisconsin Valley Library Service. That means we are part of a group of 30 libraries who loan their materials between each other and have all their items entered into the same virtual catalog. Ordering an item that our library doesn’t own can be done in the comfort of your own home by going online to vcat.wvls.lib.wi.us which will take you to the virtual catalog.
Don’t have access to the internet or aren’t internet savvy? That’s ok, you can call the library at (715)447-5486 or email the librarian at sclough@wvls.lib.wi.us and ask the librarian to order the item for you. You can also renew those items in the same way if you need them a little longer than the checkout period. When your item comes to the library, the library staff will call you and let you know that it’s in. This whole process takes generally less than a week.
