CBA meeting Thursday October 20, 2016 at 7PM
Question has been asked as to why the siren sounded in Gilman at about 2pm: the fire siren was activated by the Fire Department to summon more firefighters to respond to an injury car accident. It is important for the public to know that the Fire Siren is a wailing siren tone, that is, the tone goes up to the high tone, and the goes down to the low tone. That is a call for the fire fighters. A WEATHER ALERT siren in the steady high tone. It is NOT a wailing siren tone, but the steady high tone (sound) is the weather alert siren, and calls for you to take immediate shelter. I hope that this explanation explains the siren tones sufficiently. If not, call me at 715-748-3503. Bill Breneman, Taylor County Emergency Management Director.
